Trauma-Informed Yoga, Sound & Somatic Practice
Integrating mind–body practices for recovery, resilience, and restoration.
About
Tate Anderson (BS, RYT, Y12SR) is a trauma-informed yoga instructor, sound healer, and integrative wellness practitioner currently pursuing her Master of Social Work (MSW) and 500-hour yoga teacher training. After earning her degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, Tate began teaching therapeutic yoga and mindfulness in addiction treatment centers, where she witnessed firsthand the profound impact of mind–body connection in recovery.
Her passion for mental health advocacy and holistic healing led her to advanced training in Yoga for 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR), sound healing, Reiki, and trauma-informed yoga. Over the years, she has taught yoga and meditation across residential and outpatient treatment programs as well as corporate wellness settings, helping individuals and teams regulate their nervous systems and connect with their bodies.

As both a clinical social worker in training and an integrative practitioner, Tate blends evidence-based approaches with somatic and expressive modalities. She facilitates group and individual sessions in treatment settings and is currently accepting virtual one-on-one clients seeking trauma-informed yoga.
Beyond her clinical and teaching work, Tate leads yin and restorative yoga and trauma-informed sound bath sessions throughout the DMV. Her dedication to mental health and embodied expression also extends into her creative pursuits — through painting and poetry that explore healing, stigmatization, and advocacy.
